Oysters are the heart of Jettie Rae’s, and caring for the waters they come from is part of the job. An oyster feeds by drawing in seawater and filtering it clean, and a single adult can filter up to 50 gallons a day. Across a healthy reef, that adds up to clearer coastal waters and a thriving home for fish, crabs, shrimp, and countless other species. Responsibly farmed oysters are among the most sustainable foods from the sea, needing no feed or fertilizer and improving the water as they grow.

Their dedication ensures only the highest-quality oysters reach our tables, while also strengthening local economies and nurturing community bonds along our coasts.

We’re also always looking for ways to keep our shells out of the landfill. We’ve shared them with local brewers for their seasonal beer, and we continue to explore new ways to put them to good use.
